Title change From "Five Novels" prefaced with "Every Story Complete" to "Five Thrilling Novels". Apparently this didn't stick since it only lasted for this one issue.
This is the only issue where L. Ron Hubbard uses the pen-name "Michael Keith". It is also the only detective story of Ron's where he used a pen-name.
In the "What Do You Think" section of this pulp a reader says:
"There seems to be some discussion as to the popularity of flying stories. I could not resist the temptation, especialy after reading L. Ron Hubbard's Hurtling Wings, to write you my opinion on this subject. I am for them all the way, and I feel sure I am not alone in this idea. So let's have more flying stories. And if possible, by Mr. Hubbard. "
"C.R.E., an old reader from Kentucky."
Note [Editor]: Then be sure to see the May issue. Mr. Hubbard has written as fine an air story as we have seen anywhere in a long time. It is air racing, with speed, drama, and the full authentic flavor that only a real flyer can give stories of the air. Man-Killers of the Air is the title."
The carefull observer will note that Man-Killers in the Air was not published in the May issue, False Cargo was. Another side note is that in the In The "Next Issue" section of this (April, 1935) issue, the editor anounces that False Cargo will be in the May, 1935 issue.

There is an interesting letter from the June, 1936 issue that mentions Hurricane!,
"I noticed you have another story by L. Ron Hubbard in Five Novels, so I bought a copy. Hurricane was pretty good. I like to read his stories because some day I am going to be a pilot on a flying boat, and it seems to me that he knows what he is talking about in both the air and the sea."
The reader goes on to say,
"I was thinking I would like to know something about your writers - how they come to know so much about so many different things. I guess that would be a story all by itself. Like how Hubbard can write a sea story one month and an air story the next month."
"I showed that story called Man-Killers of the Air to a pilot down at the Lawrence airport because I thought there was a mistake in it, but he said it was all right. He said it was a damn good story, and I thought so too."
The editor responds with, " Are you and Mr. Hubbard in cahoots? He suggested that we tell the readers something about the writers and the way they build up their stories. Your letter came along almost on the heels of that conversation, so you see you and Hubbard have the same ideas."

They made a mistake by having the cover read, "The Lieutenant Takes The Air" yet the story on the inside reads, "The Lieutenant Takes the Sky".
In the December, 1938 issue a read expressed their praise for The Lieutenant Takes the Sky by saying, "The Lieutenant Takes the Air suited me right down to the ground. More power to Hubbard - and more Hubbard novels, please. I get a great kick out of his stories, and look forward to seeing more. F.N. is tops. It's alive, every word of it." G.R.S., Worcester, Mass.
The editor responds to this letter by saying, "If Hubbard is the writer you go for, don't miss the next story - Trouble on His Wings. This new novel of his hits the top with a bang. it's got everything - speed, excitement, swell characters, a good strong plot, and enough thrills in flying adventure to bring a mummy back to life. It's news-cameraman stuff - flying and picture-taking from the air, to the tune of flaming forests and machine-gun bullets. A five-star air adventure, with Hubbard at his best.

In the April, 1940 issue of F.N., If I Where You gets mixed reviews. One reader says, "Happy landings to you! But why If I Where You? Frankly, I didn't know what to make of it. I liked it and I didn't. It was a little too much for me. The circus business I did enjoy, but I couldn't quite get Little Tom's weird experience. It never did seem real to me."
Another reader said, " If I where you was strange and out of the usual line of F.N. stories, but I did like it. And I read with much interest that page of circus lingo. There where a lot of unusual terms which I was glad to learn".
Or there is this bad review, "If you want to keep me happy and faithful to old F.N., cut out yarns like, If I Where You. I want something that sounds possible, not guys like Little Tom turning into big tough blowhards like that circus mugwump. L. Ron Hubbard writes a swell story, and the way he throws circus lingo is something to marvel at, But what the heck-! I've got some imagination but it won't stretch far enough to take in yarns like If I Where You! So I'm a sourpuss.
